Our Space Week Challenge

We did it!
We set ourselves a challenge for space week...to launch a rocket (or more) a day.
We made air rockets, foam rockets, straw rockets, toilet roll rockets and mouse rockets.
We also launched fizzy rockets, balloon rockets, volcanic rockets, stomp rockets and a snowman air rocket.
We designed and made our own rockets too.
We had such fun during Space Week 2016!

More Volcanic Rockets

We have another rocket that uses the chemical reaction between vinegar and bread soda to make Carbon Dioxide gas to power the rocket.
This rocket flew really high in the air.

Straw Rockets

We made some rockets that use drinking straws for launching.
They look fantastic..
..and we really enjoyed launching them.

Ms. McLoughlin's class rockets

Here are some of the amazing rockets we designed and made ourselves:

Toilet roll rockets

We made rockets from toilet roll inserts.
Each one looks different and special.
We launched them with skewers and elastic bands.
We transferred energy from our bodies to the elastic and then from the elastic to the rocket.
They flew very well.

Stomp rocket

We had fun launching our stomp rocket.
This rocket also uses air under pressure to launch the rocket.

Snowman air rocket

Here is a rocket that can be launched using air pressure:
